As we approach summer in the Southern Hemisphere – the same questions pops up every year from customers – ‘How do we maintain dry damaged hair types?’
Primary Impact has asked resident hairdressing guru and generally all round awesome salon owner – Katrina Doble of Shine Hairdressing in Canberra to impart her words of wisdom:
“When a client has dry hair, there are normally a multitude of issues, however it’s usually 2 main reasons – chemical damage or naturally dry and frizzy conditions” remarks Katrina.
“If it is dry and damaged hair due to Chemically damaged hair – my recommendation would be to find a shampoo and conditioner with repairing agents, such as peptides and protein. Essentially these 2 features can help build strength and give your hair a little more structure against damage already done. You can replace your conditioner with a treatment if you want something a bit heavier”
“If your hair is naturally curly or naturally dry, use a shampoo with moisture agents, such as glycolic acid. This will help balance your hair’s natural structure. You can replace your conditioner with a treatment if something heavier is required” (we recommend)
Christophe Robin Regenerating Shampoo
“For both dry hair types use an intense repairing mask at least once a week and always ensure you always use a heat protectant before styling” (we recommend)

“If you are spending a lot of time in the water this summer, make sure you shampoo and treat your hair straight after to remove all unwanted minerals and impurities – such as chlorine” (we recommend)
LANZA Colour Preserving Shampoo
“Oils are always a great finishing product” (we recommend)
“Shine Hairdressing pair exceptional quality hairdressing with friendly, passionate service. We want our clients to leave the salon with beautiful, healthy hair. That’s why all our clients receive a personally tailored service, so that their cut, colour and style perfectly suit their lifestyles!”
Thanks for that advice Katrina….
